At
the Academy Martin was one of the first instructors to organize
four chucker games and pro pools for people learning the sport.
In the pro pool amateur players take all the penalty shots toward
an undefended goal.
He
also created the successful “two tab” rule, which
limited a pro to two hits per play, thus allowing a quicker
dispersal of the ball, and giving all participants more time
in the play.
These
rules are now enacted in many polo clubs around the US Today.
Martin generously donated the usage of the Academy’s facilities
to the up and coming players on the interscholastic teams, and
has sponsored teams for the Avendano tournament.
Martin’s
latest entrepreneurial polo business venture involves the purchase
and development of one of South Florida’s newest polo
facilities, Cypress Polo Club. Here Martin continues to grow
and support the sport of polo through the introduction of excellent
horses, and new players by way of lessons on the fundamentals
of polo to riders of all levels.
Martin
believes that polo should be fun, affordable, and experienced
by everyone with a desire to learn.
